What is cookies and how it play a role?
上网浏览网页不会「无人知」，而每个人的浏览纪录往往是重大商机。广告商可以透过追踪用户的方式，投放更合适的广告，但随着Google宣布将不再使用追踪技术，一切都可能会改变。
Cookies是网络的重要元素，它可以辨识用户，及储存用户使用网络的资料，方便使用者浏览网页。例如Cookies可以让用户自动登入网站，无需每次输入密码，又或是在离开网站时协助自动登出等。
另一方面Cookies因可储存用户浏览网页，进出网站的资讯，因此亦可追踪用户。Google长久以来，利用着Cookies带来的方便，纪录用户浏览网页习惯，继而协助广告商投放广告。例如用户曾前往旅游酒店网页，Google就会特别投放更多旅游相关的广告给用户。
如此的宣传方式，又称之为「个人化广告」，是目前网络上最主流的广告方式。由于网络发达，线上广告的比重已逐渐超越线下广告，而Google是今天最大的网络综合平台，集浏览器、搜寻器及广告版块于一身，其举足轻重几乎掌控着整个线上广告行业。根据数码广告顾问公司Jounce Media数字，Google佔去年全球数码广告支出2,920亿美元中的52%。
随着网络私隐成为话题，追踪用户浏览纪录的Cookies成为了众矢之的。根据Google的实验报告指出，禁止使用第三方Cookies的网站，会比能使用的平均收益下降52%，随着Google宣布不再支援第三方Cookies及不再直接追踪用户资讯，不难想像会对线上广告业造成衝击。
对一般用户而言，最明显的就是未来浏览网页时，会出现其他不相关的广告。如本身对借钱无兴趣，却给你信用卡、银行及贷款广告等。
不过，这并非代表Google没有解决方案。美国《华尔街日报》报道，Google正开发一个名为「私隐沙盒」（Privacy Sandbox）的技术，在不直接追踪用户下都能获悉用户的浏览习惯。
